Vincera, Inc. Announces Email Thread Security in Version 3.0 of it's Software

--Vincera Intelligent ProtectionTM extends data loss prevention to emails and attachments via business friendly protection, tracking and reporting--

AUSTIN, TEXAS (June 6, 2007) – Vincera, Inc., the document security company whose software allows their clients to protect, monitor, measure and manage the distribution of their data in motion, including intellectual property and other sensitive data, today announced the availability of Vincera Intelligent Protection™ (VIP) version 3.0.  Significant to VIP 3.0 is the capability to protect (encrypt, watermark and fingerprint) an email and its attachments and then enforce that protection persistently throughout the email thread (a.k.a. Vincera Document Thread™).  Additionally, VIP 3.0 will apply Vincera software’s unique document tracking and reporting capabilities to the secured email thread extending data loss prevention (DLP) services to those recipients that are out of the normal managed network.

VIP Email Thread Security – securing sensitive emails (body & attachments) by: converting the email body and over 300 attachments types into a VIP protected (encrypted) document; watermarking the email body and attachments with the recipient’s email address to create a unique Vincera Document Thread™; and the ability to monitor, measure and manage (enable, disable and expire) any unique document thread.  Also, VIP can leverage the classification function of DLP vendors or easily and automatically assign a security classification to the email based on the role/function of the document, i.e. all documents from the Legal department would be assigned a “legal” security policy.

"Data loss and leakage is one of the hottest topics in InfoSec today," says Vincera COO Kevin Schick, "due to the prevalence of data loss and leakage and its harmful consequences to every enterprise.  Although companies' data at rest is now better protected, their data in motion remains acutely vulnerable to threats from malicious sources, such as hackers and disgruntled employees, as well as threats from accidental causes, including accidental sends and email address auto-fills for unintended recipients."

Continues Schick, "The consequences of data loss and leakage are vastly damaging to a companies' brand and to their bottom line as they lose the respect and trust of partners, prospects, and existing customers.  That's why we're so excited to offer our customers and partners in content filtering the ultimate weapon in deterring, detecting, and disabling data loss and leakage: Vincera Intelligent Protection's Email Thread Security."

Vincera Intelligent Protection™ (VIP), Vincera’s flagship document security software product, is an information distribution technology that greatly reduces the risk of security breaches inherent in the e-distribution and storage of sensitive data, by enabling companies to set business-driven rules to secure, track and manage the distribution of all e-distributed sensitive content. Vincera Document Thread™, the patent-pending mechanism whereby data loss prevention is extended, is a standard, integral feature of VIP.

VIP 3.0 capabilities enable e-discovery, forensic detection, and the early detection and prevention of a breach via established audit trails.  When the VIP customer associates a given security level for a given document (email), that customer is notified if the document in question is shared beyond the VIP customer’s self-defined limits.  Finally, VIP’s document threading capabilities are so accurate that VIP customers can choose to disable any given document (email thread) for any given thread/subset of users.  Disabling the document means not only that the information cannot be forwarded, but that any sensitive information already distributed will be disabled as well.

States Vincera CEO Dave Malmstedt, “VIP’s Email Thread Security integrates security and tracking for emails and attachments so enterprise data loss and leakage are stopped cold and costly mistakes are averted.  With VIP 3.0, our customers and partners will apply the same security to their data in motion as is already applied to data at rest.  We are out to make data loss and leakage a historical footnote, and we’re starting with our partners in content filtering.  We are excited to extend Vincera’s actionable data loss prevention knowledge to InfoSec professionals in every industry.”
